How to generate a barcode

  1. Select the barcode format required by your scanner or receiving system.
  2. Enter the value, following the character and length hint below the field.
  3. Choose the height and whether to show the value beneath the bars.
  4. Generate and download the barcode, then test it with your scanner.

Supported barcode formats

LinkMint supports CODE 128, CODE 39, EAN-13, EAN-8, UPC-A and ITF-14. CODE 128 can encode internal labels such as ITEM-001. EAN, UPC and ITF-14 use numeric values with check digits. The selected format determines which characters and lengths are accepted.

Check the number before printing

The tool checks supported value formats and checksums. This helps catch entry mistakes, but it does not check a retailer's catalogue or determine whether you own an identifier. Use your assigned product number whenever your retailer or marketplace requires one.

Common questions

Does this create a registered product number?

No. LinkMint draws a barcode from your input. It does not issue GS1 identifiers, register products or guarantee marketplace acceptance.

Which download should I use for labels?

SVG scales cleanly in compatible design software. PNG works in common document and label editors. Keep the bars and white margins intact and check a sample using the actual scanner and inventory software.

Can I use a QR code instead?

Only if your scanner and software accept QR codes. Choose the format your workflow requires instead of assuming the formats are interchangeable.
